just getting round to posting these pics of our trip last month on the rocky mountaineer train up to whistler!

this was so super exciting... i've seen the rocky mountaineer go by a number of times through west vancouver and thought to ride it would be something special. gran had heard from a lady on her flight in that it was a fantastic experience, so we decided to go for it!

we had to be at the station in north vancouver for 7am.. gran and i were not actually sure we could pull this off with baby, toddler and all the paraphernalia that comes along with them.. but we got as organized as possible the night before and by some miracle we got there in good time!

we were a bit sad that it was actually a quite rainy day and so our visibility of the beautiful views wasn't going to be great. but it was super fun anyway and we saw lots of amazingness following up the howe sound and then meandering alongside the river all the way up to whistler. roo and i got chatting to an older gentleman travelling alone who revealed it was his 90th birthday. great way to celebrate!

i'm slightly ashamed to admit that since i got my camera last november i have not tried out the self timer..
..i kept meaning to, but kept forgetting.

last week hubby had a work meeting at home and benji and i moved into the bedroom in an attempt to keep the noise down.. my camera was there sitting on the shelf, i grabbed it and was about to start taking some pictures of benji when i remembered! this would be a great time to try out some selfies! it was pretty fun actually and i was pleasantly surprised at the pictures i got, it's really nice to have a few with me in the picture.. just so the kids might remember i was around too!

benji was a bit startled at  the camera rattling off ten shots in quick succession, hence the concerned look in the last pic. i'll have to try some with roo next time..

before we hit the posh lodge last weekend for the wedding, we last minute decided to leave a night early and spend a night in squamish dirt bagging it i.e. camping.

i love letting the boys explore the forest... although it will be nice when i don't have to stop them from eating tree stumps :)

we stayed at the 'climbers campsite' closed to the chief and found the last available space.. right in the cul-de-sac we were hoping for... after dins (lamb, mac'n'cheese and grilled veg) we headed to the communal slack line and roo had a try... with some help from daddy of course.

we had the privilege of attending our friend's beautiful wedding last weekend at edgewater lodge in whistler... and truly beautiful it was with the backdrop of green lake, whistler and blackcomb mountains (and many more i don't know the names of) and lots of blue sky and september sunshine.

the couple planned to do their photo shoot before the actual ceremony, which meant the first time erik saw his bride was when they met in the grounds of the lodge to drive off to the shoot location.. we were very excited to unexpectedly witness this amazing moment! yes, i had a tear or two in my eye :)

by the time of the ceremony (3pm) our little roo was badly needing a nap but was fighting it and acting up a little (poor boy had been stung by wasps twice that morning! TWICE!)... he managed to fall off his chair right before the ceremony started and so i had to swiftly escort him away out of ear shot..yikes.  i managed to get a few pics from afar... hopefully they show how beautiful it was. after the ceremony we got roo napping in the stroller (for about three hours i think!) he woke up in a much happier mood... right in time for dinner and music. benji had a lot of fun (he had his long nap before everything started ha) and especially enjoyed flirting with all the ladies.

congratulations erik and tara
thank you so much for inviting us to share your beautiful day

right before he turned around to see his bride! eek loved sharing this moment!! :D

a few weeks ago, when gran was still staying with us, we decided to visit the west coast railway heritage park in squamish. it's a little off the beaten track but i'd heard on the grapevine it was supposed to be really worth checking out.. turned out it is actually pretty great.

roo l.o.v.e.d. it.. although his favourite part was actually playing with the double trainset.. which he could have done back at a number of places where they have them in north van ha! we ended up there for longer than we reckoned for on two occasions!

he did also really love the fantastic model railway they had set up in one of the train cars. you can hop on a lot of the trains and they have different exhibits to explore inside.. oh we also took a ride on the miniature railway, the excitement of the day was when we had a derailment!

i'm sure we'll be returning soon :)
